Dr. Jahan Eftekhar

Jahan Eftekhar is the founder of Eftekhar's Inc. dba J. Eftekhar & Associates, Inno Tech Engineering Services, Evidence Storage at JEA and Inventive Safety Concepts. He serves as the principal and lead analyst for the companies.

He received a B.S in Mechanical Engineering and completed the coursework for M.S. in Engineering Science/Engineering Mechanics from The University of Tehran in 1974 and 1976, respectively. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1979 and 1983, respectively.
Dr. Eftekhar has completed over (34) certification courses and seminars in the area of Mechanical Design, Instrumentation and Calibration, Vehicle Safety and Design, Brake Safety and Design, Accident Reconstruction, Computer Aided Reconstruction, Industrial Measurements and Control, Vehicle Rollover, Impact & Injury Pattern, Vehicle Seat Design, ​Low Speed Impact and Biodynamic, Occupant Safety, Motorcycle an Multi-vehicle Crash Testing, and Bicycle/Pedestrian Impact testing. He has been involved with numerous experimentation concerning vehicle dynamic and rollover stability, tire/wheel performance, airbags deployment/non-deployment, seat and sled design and testing, helmet impact testing, child seat design and testing, conspicuity and visibility at night, accessibility and wheelchair design, mechanical torso impact testing and elevator and amusement park rides.
Dr. Eftekhar is a Fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineer and a licensed professional engineer in State of Texas.
Dr. Eftekhar is the past Chair of the Mechanical Engineering and Biomechanics Department of The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He retired from UTSA in December 31, 2010 after 30 years of service for University of Texas system and Texas Tech University. He is currently serving as an adjunct professor of mechanical engineering at UTSA, teaching courses in the area of Vehicle Dynamics and Accidental Injury. At UTSA, He taught (41) different subjects, served as the department chair and founded and directed several organizations, programs and laboratories.
Eftekhar has also taught a large number of continuing education courses and seminars in the area of accident reconstruction, inspection and examination of evidence, design for safety, occupant safety in design, new and emerging vehicle technologies, event data recorders, and low/high speed collisions.
Dr. Eftekhar has been involved in over (100) designs and patents, with majority involving users and human interaction. He was a consultant to US Department of Defense and US Air Force, which he designed, retrofitted, modified (39) technologies. He designed vehicle components and participated in the design, test and manufacturing of several cars that were sold to the public.

Dr. Eftekhar has served as a consultant and expert in the litigation area in mechanical engineering, product design, biodynamic, accident reconstruction, and product failure analysis. During this time, he has evaluated over 2500 accidents involving vehicles, mobile and stationary machinery, equipment and structures. He has served as a consultant on numerous projects with the federal and state agencies, engineering and law firms, and insurance companies. He has testified as an engineering expert on numerous criminal and civil cases in the federal and district courts. Dr. Eftekhar has authored numerous publications and regularly serves as a member of peer review committees.​
