A graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, Michael earned his Ph.D. in the joint UTSA / UTHSCSA Biomedical Engineering doctoral program with a research focus on the age-related changes in the composition and biomechanical properties of bone. He received his Master's of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Biomechanics from UTSA.

Dr. Reyes has served as a lead analyst and consultant in automobile, product liability, and premises liability accident investigation and reconstruction. He has also served as a lead analyst and consultant in the determination of injury causation in automobile accidents. Michael has made numerous presentations at national conferences of his research in the area of hard tissue biomechanics and co authored four book chapters related to the biomechanical testing and mechanical properties of hard tissues.

Dr. Reyes has completed the Society of Automotive Engineers Accident Reconstruction Certificate program, a six-course series focusing on Vehicle Crash Reconstruction Methods, Event Data Recorders, Passenger Car and Heavy Truck Vehicle Dynamics, the Reconstruction and Analysis of Rollover Crashes of Light Vehicles, and the Reconstruction and Analysis of Motorcycle Crashes. He has also received instruction in Frontal and Side Impact Occupant Safety and Computer Aided Engineering as well as Injuries, Anatomy, Biomechanics & Federal Regulation. He has received training in advanced accident reconstruction from Texas A&M (Engineering Extension Service). He also earned Level 1 and 2 Crash Data Retrieval certification in the downloading of automobile airbag and powertrain control modules (Bosch / Collision Safety Institute).
